Schlüsselwörter Strahlenunfall – Strahlenexposition – Kontamination – Inkorporation – Krankenhaus-Alarm- und Einsatzplanung
Keywords Radiation Accident – Radiation Exposure – Contamination – Incorporation – Hospital Emergency Plan

Summary

Although relevant incidents with ionising radiation occur very seldom in Germany, the permanent use of radioactive material in various areas poses a constant threat.

The Institute for Radiation Protection of the Employer‘s Liability Insurance Association, Regional Radiation Protection Centers and the WHO REMPAN Center Würzburg are available as important competence centres in research, training and organisation in the event of radiation accidents.
Depending on the number of people affected, the type of radiation damage and the severity of the accompanying injuries, the care of injuries resulting from ionising radiation is a major challenge for the receiving hospital.
This article is intended to show which organisational measures can be specified by a hospital emergency plan before a damage event occurs. In addition, the clinical management after radiation exposure, contamination and incorporation of radiation carriers, as well as the associated dangers for the treatment team in the emergency room are explained.
