Summary
Summary:We report on the case of a female in-patient with therapy-resistant generalized dystonia who responded repeatedly to minimum doses of nondepolarizing muscle relaxants by a selective normalization of the tone of the affected spastic musculature. In consequence of that, a new therapeutic strategy consisting in a subcutaneous administration of pancuronium bromide via a commercial patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) pump was developed and successfully applied. To our knowledge, this type of treatment has not yet been described for dystonia before, which is why we would like to present it as a possible therapeutic option.
