Zusammenfassung
Zusammenfassung: Eine 69jährige, stoffwechselgesunde Patientin entwickelte während einer fünftägigen Nüchternphase vor einem Dickdarmeingriff eine aus-geprägte metabolische Azidose (pH 7,01). Das Hormonprofil mit niedrigem Insulin und hohem Glukagon deutete auf eine durch Hungerstoffwechsel entstandene Ketoazidose hin.
Unter Glukose-InsulinInfusion war die Azidose innerhalb weniger Stunden reversibel.

Summary: During a five day preoperative preparation phase in which she only consumed clear fluids a 69 year old non-diabetic woman developed massive meta-bolic acidosis (pH 7.01). The hormonal profile with low insulin and high glucagone implies a starvation induced ketosis. Under a glucose-insulin infusion the acidosis was fully reversed within a few hours.
