Zusammenfassung
Asthma bronchiale ist eine chronisch entzündliche Erkrankung der Atemwege mit variabler Atemwegsobstruktion. Etwa jeder zehnte Erwachsene und jedes zwanzigste Kind sind betroffen. In der perioperativen Phase gibt es eine Vielzahl potentieller Trigger für einen Asthmaanfall mit möglicherweise tödlichem Ausgang.
Daher ist es für den Anästhesisten essentiell, diese zu kennen, zu erkennen und möglichst zu vermeiden. Bei einem perioperativen Anfall ist eine differenzierte, der perioperativen Phase angepasste Therapie durchzuführen.
Summary
Bronchial asthma is a chronic inflammatory respiratory disorder characterized by airway obstruction of variable intensity. Roughly one in ten adults and one in twenty children develop the condition. During the perioperative phase any number of substances can potentially trigger an asthmatic attack with a possibly fatal outcome. It is essential for the anaesthetist to know, and recognize such substances, and to avoid them wherever possible. A perioperative attack requires a complex and differentiated response that is appropriate to the current operative situation.
